Music Monday: Alibi Music, Mysterious Pop

So for a little diversity on this segment, I (The Rattler) will be contributing to the music Monday today. And to make that diversity even more significant, I present you with some offerings from the Epic genre.

I am a lover of Epic music. Maybe due to the same thing that moves me as an artist. It’s ability to capture the vast enormity of the universe itself, while reaching into the most intimate parts of human emotion. Whatever is out there, and whatever is deep within, tend to come together in a perfect blend of instrumentals, effects, and ethereal-sounding vocals.

I am new to Alibi Music. Like most Epic contributions, Alibi is more of a music licensing company in the vein of Audiomachine, or Two Steps From Hell. No surprise, like most of my Epic discoveries, I happened upon it in a movie trailer.

The Mysterious Pop album is actually one of the few I’ve seen out there, composing of vocals in each track. Epic is largely instrumental, focusing mostly on capturing the emotion that it wants to capture, and less on the ability of a singer. The names of the individual singers are usually unknown, and to even purchase the music, you may have to go to their website. In this lucky occasion, Alibi does compile their offerings into albums, which brings us back to Mysterious Pop.

In Pop, the diverse nature of each track is not quite as stark to the uninitiated. It’s like the Opera. Only a true fan could distinguish the subtle differences. This does come with some exception. Freak for instance, brings the more synth-oriented stylings of 80’s pop. For me, it sort of reminded me of U2’s Discotheque. The track Funeral Scene on the other hand, evokes something not too far from Vance Courtney.

Alibi Music’s music can be found on all their online channels. Hope you enjoy.
