“I Got A Lot Of Things Wrong.” – Celebrity Tattoo Artist Kat Von D Throws Out Witchcraft Books. Acknowledges “Spiritual Battle Taking Place.”

In a recent post on her Instagram,, Katherine Von Drachenberg, better known as Kat Von D, announced she was throwing away her collection of books which contained witchcraft, the macabre, and occult themes. The world-renowned tattoo artist, who rose to fame as the star of the reality show LA Ink, along with a line of cosmetics, and a career as a recording artist, had “come to some pretty meaningful realizations” about her involvement with these themes.

While acknowledging that she “got a lot of things wrong” in regard to her past, she went on to explain:

“I’ve always found beauty in the macabre, but at this point, I just had to ask myself what is my relationship with this content? And the truth is, I just don’t want to invite any of these things into our family’s lives, even if it comes disguised in beautiful covers, collecting dust on my shelves.”

Clarifying that this for her, was more a self-reflective process, not a put-down on anyone else, especially for those who still pursue those interests, she goes on to state:

“It’s never been more clear to me that there is a spiritual battle taking place, and I want to surround myself and my family with love and light.”

This revelation may have been gradually building over the last few years. Von D had quietly implemented some changes in her personal life, that eventually led up to this significant one. In 2020, she sold her shares of her makeup company, which featured the kind of dark themes that consisted of her style. She also began covering up her tattoos.

Later that same year, the now wife and mother bought a home in Indiana, apparently happy to leave behind, California’s “terrible policies, tyrannical government overreach, ridiculous taxing, amongst so much more corruption.” The simpler life of an Indiana small town, where “my son can be free to play,” was a welcome change for her and her family.

As for her famous LA tattoo parlor (which boasted a clientele that included Beyonce, Harry Styles, and Miley Cyrus to name a few), she had sold it, along with her expensive mansion, before the move to Indiana.

The responses to her post were largely positive.

“God is great and he always wins,” said one of her followers. “Take your soul and run from the enemy.”

“This is beautiful and insightful,” said another supportive follower. “Praying for you and your family!”
