Clay Travis Reminds Us When Lebron Tried To Fake His Way Through A Malcolm X Book.

Since last week, Lebron James has been getting quite the backlash over his reaction to a police involved shooting. Responding to a Tuesday, April 20 shooting of a16 year old black girl by a cop, Lebron quickly took to Twitter.

The backlash, then got intensified, after he tried to dodge responsibility with a workaround of some sort.

One standout observation though, came from Clay Travis, sports journalist, and founder of sports website, Outkick. The tweet and the accompanying clip showed Lebron attempting to answer a reporter’s question as to what he gleaned from the Malcolm X autobiography he was holding, and claimed to have read.

What follows, is a mishmash of incoherent sentences by a grown man, trying to seriously bs his way out of the corner he had clearly backed himself into.

James’ history with attempted forays into politics, isn’t new. Neither are the feeble capacity to which they could be called informed, or the critique he has garnered by such attempts. One thing that makes this one stand out, is that it reveals yet again, one interesting aspect that seems to repeatedly occur. That there clearly seems to be a desire by James to be noticed as some kind of social hero.

With a local cop now having to make moves to protect himself from the childish reaction of a rich, spoiled, celebrity, Travis’ observation is noteworthy. The emptiness that defines some of the most influential people in the culture, gives a needed perspective on how useful it is, to elevate them. Beyond just the internet dunks, it comes with a real cost.
