Watch: In Wake Of Tragedy, Toby Mac Releases “Help Is On The Way (Maybe Midnight).”

After going through what he describes as “a season in the valley of sad songs,” Toby Mac has released Help Is On The Way.

With a style that blends rock, old school gospel, and tent revivals, Help is Toby Mac’s way of finding God at a time of deep sorrow.

The “valley” refers to the October 2019 death of his son Truett, who had just kicked off his own solo career as a rapper. After a hiatus to be with family, Toby had released “21 Years” on January 2020, as a tribute to him. The 21 years was a reference to Truett’s age at the time of his passing.

In a recent interview, he elaborates:

“I read this Scripture that said, ‘God is rolling up His sleeves,’ and I thought, ‘Wow, I’ve never seen that in the Bible.’ What beautiful imagery, when you think of the God of all creation rolling up His sleeves on my behalf – on our behalf. And I just thought, ‘What promise.'”

The music video finds Toby Mac keeping his music a family affair. This time, his son Judah is featured.

Toby Mac will follow the release of “Help…” by embarking on his “Hits Deep Tour” with Tauren Wells, We Are Messengers, Unspoken, Cochren & Co., and Terrian.
